Yup Gabe's got a case of the "boggy" elbow. Not sure what that is? Neither did we until last night.
Gabe and I decided to go on our usual bike route for our workout last night. The past FIVE days have been cloudy and highs in the mid 90's. We rarely get a full day of cloudy skies it seems. Glorious weather for June which allows us to continue our workouts outside which we will take every hour we can get to avoid our summer heat insanity.
Part of our usual bike route is crossing angled rail road tracks in the bike lane on a busy road. This would be the location where gabe first wiped out on a road bike. The tracks are tricky to cross because if you don't get the right angle your tire can slip into the track and well that's the end of your bike ride and hello pavement. I know this now from first hand experience as I was the one to crash last night on these tracks. Gabe unfortunately was following close behind and locked up his brakes and did an endo, landing directly on top of me. Humorous and painful to experience and watch I'm sure.
He was able to get up off of me and walk to the gravel past the rail road tracks and off the road. I then could move and get up and cleared our bikes. Gabe laid down in pain. I ended up with bumps, bruises, and road rash along my left leg and a sore shoulder. Gabe ended up with a boggy elbow.
He was in a lot of pain and couldn't turn his wrist without inducing more pain so we headed directly to Urgent Care, where the doctor "appreciated the swelling" in his right arm, later describing it as boggy - more than once. We've had a good attitude about it all and learned tonight that he doesn't have a radial head fracture like the doctor was thinking as being a possibility. He's still very swollen and in pain but we're hoping it heals completely with time.
Now its time to plan a new bike route...

I agree...it's time to get a new bike route! (And can we get back some of those 90 degree days too??)
